An addressograph-multigraph book charging system which uses embossed plastic bookcards and readers cards. These are inserted in an imprinter which records the details on the pre-numbered transaction slip which is produced in triplicate by means of carbons. One slip is inserted in the book pocket and a joined pair is filed in numerical order. When books are returned the slips are removed and later stored into numerical order to reveal missing numbers which represent books still on loan. The library’s slip corresponding to these overdues are removed from file and the remainder discarded. One of each retained pair is kept as the continuing loan record and the other copy which was preprinted with appropriate wording, is sent as an overdue remainder.
