What is Library card catalogue?

A catalogue, the entries of which are made on card of uniform size and quality, and stored in any desired order on their edges in drawer or other form of container, each card being restricted to a single entry and details of class number or call number to enable the item to be found.

In card catalogue, entries for books are prepared on standard card (12.5cm. x 7.5 cm.) or (3″ x 7″) which are placed in desired order in a catalogue cabinet. in this form, one entry is prepared on one card.
